Don-E is back with his finest album to date (available via Amazon or download it on iTunes)
– a stunning 14-track collection including the blockbuster lead single
“Spiritual” which features no fewer than 7 of the UK’s finest male soul
vocalists – Carl McIntosh of Loose Ends, Omar, Leee John of Imagination,
Junior Giscombe, Noel McKoy, Paul Johnson and Rick Clarke.
Don-E, who first came to prominence in the early Nineties with his
Island hit singles “Love Makes The World Go Round” and “Unbreakable”,
covers a range of styles from smooth ballads to Nineties-influenced
swing to frenetic up-tempo dance tunes. An album that is so packed full
of hit tunes it will be a permanent fixture on soul dancefloors this
year.
As well as the single “Spiritual”, he delivers a very different
take on “Slave To The Rhythm” – Don frequently tours as a member of
Grace Jones’ band – and plays homage to Dennis Brown with an intimate,
soulful treatment of “Love Has Found Its Way”. Other key cuts already
picking up airplay include “Hold On” and “Hot Like The Summer”.
Don-E makes an overdue return to London’s Jazz Café on Saturday September 14, together with several Special Guests. Tickets are available now from www.ticketmaster.co.uk
Don-E’s previous album “Natural” included a cameo performance from D’Angelo on keyboards.
